CBS will go back Down Under with NCIS: Sydney.
The network has ordered a second season of the series, the first international edition of its NCIS franchise. The pickup corresponds with a second-season order for the show from Paramount+ in Australia.
“The global power of the NCIS franchise became even stronger on broadcast and streaming with the addition of NCIS: Sydney,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. “Our American viewers have fully embraced these engaging characters, unique stories and the fabulous Australian scenery. We are thrilled to bring this show back to CBS next season and spend even more time down under.”

NCIS: Sydney was an 11th-hour addition to CBS’ fall schedule, which the network had to revamp extensively during last year’s labor strikes. Its performed well stateside, drawing an average of 6.54 million viewers per week over seven days (and not including streaming) and ranking first among new series in the fall. CBS says NCIS: Sydney averaged 8 million cross-platform viewers over five weeks, including streaming on Paramount+ and other CBS apps.
The show follows a group of NCIS agents who form a joint task force with members of the Australian Federal Police to track naval crimes in the region. Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel and William McInnes star.
“We’re beyond stoked with the response to the first season of the show, both in Australia and around the world, and that the team at NCIS: Sydney is returning for a second season,” said executive producer and showrunner Morgan O’Neill. “We’re especially thrilled to invite our audience deeper into the lives of our core team, peeling back the layers to find out what really makes them tick.”
NCIS: Sydney is produced for CBS Studios and Paramount Australia by Endemol Shine Australia. O’Neill, Sara Richardson and Michele Bennett executive produce.
The series joins fellow rookie Tracker and veterans Fire Country and Ghosts in securing a spot in CBS’ lineup for 2024-25. The network also has an NCIS prequel on tap for next season, while Paramount+ will house a separate NCIS spinoff starring former series mainstays Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly.
