A new Billie Eilish era is underway, as she has announced the title and release date of her third album.
For her upcoming LP Hit Me Hard and Soft, which arrives on May 17, Eilish is taking a different approach than for her previous records. This time, there will be no singles. Instead, the Grammy-winning singer wants to “give it to you all at once,” as she shared on Instagram.
“Finneas and I truly could not be more proud of this album, and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it,” she added in the social media announcement.

After calling out artists for their wasteful vinyl variants, Eilish is committed to going green for this record, releasing limited physical copies on the same day, each featuring the same track listing. As was the case with her previous album Happier Than Ever, the Hit Me Hard and Soft vinyl will be made from 100 percent recyclable material.
The news comes after Eilish teased the arrival of her new album on Instagram last week, adding fans to her close friends list, where she previewed the title and the LP’s artwork. The 22-year-old also discussed that she had an LP underway while appearing on The Cookout in Sept. 2023. “There is a whole album of music coming,” she said at the time. “We’re in the final stages of making it, so that doesn’t mean it’s about to come out, but it is getting there and it’s very exciting.”
Eilish’s announcement comes on the heels of her becoming the youngest two-time Oscar winner alongside her brother Finneas, after winning best original song for her Barbie contribution, “What Was I Made For?”
