A spicy restaurant rivalry that pits two Amalfi Coast dining destinations against one another has emerged in an unlikely, far-flung location: San Vicente Bungalows.
Last October, the private membership club launched a pop-up hosting Lo Scoglio as part of its “Sunday Supper” series. High-ranking members of the family business including owner and maître d’ Antonia de Simone and her chef brother Tommaso de Simono flew over from their home base in Marina del Cantone, Nerano, to supervise the temporary dining experience, accompanied by home-grown vegetables and fish sourced out of the Mediterranean. The three-night offering proved to be a hit with members but a sore spot for others who were peeved their personal Amalfi Coast restaurant wasn’t invited to make the trek.

“The team at Conca del Sogno and some members were a little offended that Lo Scoglio got all the attention,” dishes one insider of the restaurant that has hosted Oprah Winfrey (on a break from David Geffen’s yacht), Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Bruce Springsteen.
Jeff Klein and his SVB team are remedying that by welcoming Conca del Sogno to the club for a similar pop-up, starting on April 14 for the Sunday night dinner followed by three dates that following week which will feature special additions to the menu, on April 15-17.
The Hollywood Reporter hears that Conca del Sogno staff are making the trip — and bringing their own lemons in their luggage for the restaurant’s famed sgroppino. “People are loyal to these places like they are football clubs. Everybody swears by one or the other — and they are quite obsessive.”
